Data Notes

Pāṇḍitya uses a static snapshot of the Pandit database from 2024-12-13. This export had 67,500 rows (= entities) and 163 columns (= fields). Only a subset of this is used:

• 9 fields (columns): Content type, ID, Title, Author (person IDs), Authors (person), Attributed author (person ID), Attributed author (person), Commentary on (work ID), Commentary on (work)
• 1 out of 9 Content types (= row types): Work
  • This reduces the number of rows to 12,713
  • Some minor cleaning reduced this number further to 12,701
  • Persons were then derived from Works (i.e., no isolated Authors without Works were used)

Below are some summary statistics on community sizes for more context:

• Total entities: 16,498 (12,701 works, 3,797 authors)
• Total relationships: 13,685 (9,287 author → work, 4,398 work → work)
